Dutertes Bring Comfort and Immediate Aid to Flood Evacuees in Bangka

7/24/26, 11:00 PM

DAVAO CITY – As floodwaters forced families to leave the safety of their homes on Friday evening, First District Representative Paolo "Pulong" Duterte and Vice Mayor Rodrigo "Rigo" Duterte II moved quickly to ensure that those affected were not left to face the ordeal alone.

Continuous heavy rains caused a nearby creek to overflow, sending floodwaters into homes in Barangay Talomo and prompting local authorities to carry out a preemptive evacuation to keep residents safe.

Through the Office of the First Congressional District and the Office of the Vice Mayor, immediate relief assistance was delivered to families taking shelter in evacuation centers, providing essential supplies to help them through the difficult night.

Understanding that comfort can come from something as simple as a warm meal, Rep. Duterte and Vice Mayor Duterte also organized community cooking activities for evacuees at the Our Lady of Lourdes Central Park Gym and the Bangkal Satellite Gym in Royal Valley. Volunteers prepared and served freshly cooked meals, offering not only nourishment but also a sense of care and solidarity to families temporarily displaced by the flooding.

The relief effort reflects the shared commitment of Rep. Paolo Duterte and Vice Mayor Rodrigo "Rigo" Duterte II to stand with Dabawenyos in times of need—responding quickly, extending compassion, and ensuring that families affected by the flooding receive the support they need while they await the all-clear to return home.
