DAVAO CITY – The City Government of Davao is aiming to become the first Artificial Intelligence (AI) robot-centered city in the Philippines as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen digital transformation and modernize public services.

During the regular session of the City Council on June 2, representatives from East West International Education Specialist Inc. (EWIES) led by President and Chief Executive Officer Dennis Franco M. Layug, together with partner Jeffrey Peter, presented two three-foot AI-powered humanoid robots to city lawmakers.

The demonstration showcased the robots’ capabilities and their potential role in local government operations. Councilors were also given the opportunity to interact directly with the robots by asking questions to assess their communication and response capabilities.

The city hopes to begin utilizing AI robots as early as next year to streamline government processes and improve public service delivery.

DAVAO CITY – The offices of Davao City First District Rep. Paolo Duterte and Vice Mayor Rigo Duterte extended relief assistance on Monday, May 18, to hundreds of residents affected by recent flooding and fire incidents in the city.
At least 310 individuals affected by flooding in Barangay 2-A received hot rice porridge, locally known as lugaw, from the offices of the two officials.

The food assistance was distributed to residents of Purok 1, Purok 2, and Purok 3 after floodwaters inundated portions of the community following heavy rains on Sunday evening, May 17.

According to Rep. Duterte’s office, the distribution of hot meals formed part of their immediate response efforts for residents displaced by the flooding while authorities continued monitoring conditions in affected areas.
