HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Philippines Pays Courtesy Visit to Vice Mayor Rodrigo “Rigo” Duterte II

DAVAO CITY – Representatives of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Philippines (HDHHIP) paid a courtesy visit to Vice Mayor Rodrigo “Rigo” Duterte II on July 15, 2026, to strengthen collaboration with the City Government of Davao in expanding employment opportunities for Dabawenyos.

During the meeting, HDHHIP officials presented the company’s operations, discussed its workforce expansion program, and outlined its local recruitment activities being conducted on July 15–16, 2026, in partnership with the City Public Employment Service Office (PESO) under the leadership of Ms. Lilibeth Pantinople.

Leading the delegation were Mr. Kim Chang Hwan, Vice President for Management; Mr. Shin Dong Wook, HR Section Supervisor; Mr. Ralph David M. Magno, HR Manager; and Mr. Her Jun Won, Specialist.

The two-day recruitment drive, held at the PESO Office at the Davao Recreational Center (formerly Almendras Gym), offers more than 1,200 employment opportunities, including 1,000 Welder positions, 200 Fitters, 50 Painters, and 20 Project Engineers. Successful applicants will be deployed to HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Philippines’ shipyard at the Subic Bay Freeport in Zambales.

Vice Mayor Duterte welcomed the initiative, underscoring the importance of strong partnerships between the local government and the private sector in creating sustainable and quality employment for Dabawenyos. He thanked HDHHIP for bringing significant job opportunities to the city and reaffirmed his support for programs that promote livelihood, workforce development, and inclusive economic growth.

The courtesy visit reflects the shared commitment of the City Government of Davao and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Philippines to connect skilled Dabawenyos with meaningful employment while contributing to the continued growth of the local workforce.
